What To Expect

Since each person is at a different stage in their journey, we encourage a climate of respect as personal experiences and feelings are shared, even when they differ from our own. For some, reaching understanding and acceptance may be a long and difficult process; for others, it may be quick and easy. Everyone who comes with respect is welcome, including:

- Diverse people from a range of backgrounds.
- Allies who want to learn more about the LGBTQ+ community.
- Those who identify as LGBTQ+ themselves.
- Those hesitant to "come out" to family, friends, or their faith community.
- Those questioning their own or their child's sexual orientation or gender identity.
- Those seeking a safe space to discuss topics related to sexual orientation and gender identity.

What happens at support meetings?

Our meetings are casual and confidential. Anyone we meet and anything said in our meetings is held in confidence. Meetings often include a presentation related to issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community and those who love them, and at each meeting, attendees may:

- Share what brings them to PFLAG Lower Columbia.
- Ask questions.
- Listen generously to others.
- Share concerns, heartaches, and celebrations.
- Say nothing. No one is required to speak or share. You can simply say "pass".

We look forward to seeing you at one of our meetings soon!
